Maximizing your productivity at a job fair

Here is a list of some simple DO's and DON'Ts that we have put together to assist you in making your Diversity Job Fairs experience successful.

Always…

  1. Plan before you go to the fair. Work with your job fair team before the event.

  2. Be sure to update your job opportunities on DiversityJobFairs.com before the show. Our extensive advertising and marketing campaign drives traffic to the website.

  3. If possible, bring two staff members to the job fair. This allows for breaks and keeps everyone looking fresh and alert throughout the day.

  4. Make eye contact and smile as candidates pass your booth. Always stand in front of your booth; our most successful exhibitors are always the most assertive ones. Schedule interview times on the spot if possible.

  5. Be prepared to hand out recruiting materials.

  6. Dress up your booth to attract candidates. Balloons, decorations, and eyecatching collateral material always attract candidates to your booth.

  7. Get colorful handouts and if possible, interesting giveaway items with your companies logo or recruiting website address.

  8. Wear nametags, polo shirts, or hats with your company logo. You want to make sure that you can be easily identified as being with one particular company.

Never…

  1. Never leave the booth unattended. If you are alone and need to take a break, ask someone to watch the booth. The Diversity Job Fairs staff is always available to help you!

  2. Don't use your cellular phone while tending your booth. If you look like you are too busy to talk to potential candidates, they will probably go to another booth.

  3. Don't forget that your company is judged by your actions.

  4. Don't leave early if it's a slow day. It makes your company look unprofessional and you could miss out on the perfect candidate.
